It is almost certain that once my weekends come around – you’ll find me hiding out at a little hidden cafe, sipping on some coconut milk coffee and enjoying a breakfast bowl.
Not only do I spam my snapchat and instagram feed with the eats out of the day.
I also get asked a lot as to where I would recommend, and what’s a good quality place to sit and unwind come Sunday morning.
So I’ve compiled a sweet little list of 7 places ( in no particular order that I’d happily indulge at any day of the week.
1. SECOND HOME
I am so lucky to have this little gem right around the corner from my place. Not only are their coconut milk coffees insane, they put on a quality brunch/lunch menu. Soon to (hopefully) be extending to Dinner also.
Just like the classic breakfast staple, I cannot go past their unique smashed Avo with Vegemite Salt. A must try for anyone.
The decor and homely feel you sense when you walk through the big window doors is so comforting, it literally is your second home for all things good eats and quality company.
Please note, I highly recommend getting in early, say no later than 9.30am as they guys fill up super quick! But it’s always worth the wait!
One of the favourites.
A little hidden in the beachy suburb of Elwood, you fell you;ve come away for a mini holiday when eating at this decked out combi inspired cafe.
It’s usually my next stop straight after a casual run along the Elwood beach front.
The menu is Vegan friendly and ridiculously delicious! Highly recommend both the Acai and Dragon Fruit bowls along side their iced coffees with homemade vegan ice cream and a fresh shot of coffee. A winner all round for something a little different & guilt free, with all the good chilled out vibes.
If you find yourself in Northcote you cannot go past one of the classic brunch/lunch spots. Bazza.
Decked out with modern decor, super friendly staff and a menu that spoils you for choices, you’ll find yourself wanting to spend your entire morning here.
This place fills up fast, however the turn around is pretty quick and the staff are always on top of getting you a table asap. Favourites here include the Breakfast Salad (Raw broccolini.. see menu), Crushed Avo and Pavlova Chia Pudding.
4. LANEWAY GREENS
Location: CBD Flinders Lane
This place is dangerously good, especially because my work is exactly one block away from it!
From breakfast bowls to lunch bowls you are guaranteed a good healthy and wholesome feed.
The Miso Salmon lunch bowl is a favourite I cannot go past! Alongside the Kale and Kiwi smoothie, perfect for those who want to get in their greens but aren’t used to the taste of the usual green smoothie. Lunch time here gets busy, so I’d advise breakfast visits or anytime before 12.30 to ensure a spot on a table and a faster lunch run!
This place challenges the usual concept of brunch and lunch meals, and takes it to a whole new and creative level. Specialising in all organic and raw foods to treat yourself on always.
It does not matter what your order, you are sure to be receiving something tasty and super good for your insides. Myself and quit literally my other half (Taylor) stumbled across this gem whilst on the way to Barry and thought, why not. We were far from disappointed! If you are open to something different and unique I strongly suggest you spend an hour or two chilling at IKU.
Little Big Sugar Salt.
I love this place purely because it is so unique. Set up in an old house off a corner of Victoria Street – it feels like you’ve left home to come home for breakfast.
The trendy newpaper style menus and super friendly staff make the experience a warming and wecloming one. We always seem to hit this place crack of dawn before the rush sets in. Meals like the “The Usual” and “Parradge” always go down a treat. Check it for some slightly outter city chilled vibes for your Saturday morning.
Super cute and petite, just off the tram line in Hawthorn. This is another joint where arriving early will be to your benefit! This little place fills up super quick, however the staff are always on point when its come to the waiting list and getting you in and served.
The Super Food Breakfast bowl and 5 Grain Almond Mylk Porridge are winners in my book! Not too mention they make a mean Almond milk latte.
The decor is cute clean and colourful – and fits so well with the upbeat vibe of the cafe.
A must stop if you are over that side of town.
